Day 28 "Bokeh"

Ok so here is a good example of both my puppy and what his name means.

His "Stage" name is "Peakview Wigglebutt Fuzzy Blur" But we call him Bokeh.

Bokeh, for those who dont know, is a term used in Photography to describe the aesthetic quality of the blur in the portion of a photo thats out of focus.  The term comes from the Japanese word boke , which means "blur" or "haze".

The example in this photo is the gravel behind his head.  The size and shape of the blur is determined by several factors including:
  • Focal Length
  • The shape of the aperture blades
  • And the size of the Aperture itself.

Nikon D300s
Sigma 70-200
ISO 400

  1. Adorable! Love your explanation of bokeh too. great example!

  2. I think it's brilliant that you named your dog Bokeh. It almost makes me wish I had a fuzzy dog just so I could use that name. Almost. Bokeh is adorable and nice bokeh in the photo.

  3. Love the name and love the dog!!! So cute! Your pictures are great also :)

  4. I really like this portrait of this dog, it captures its piercing eyes and makes it almost feel like a person!
